What is Paddleboarding?
 Well, although paddleboarding is pretty new in the UK, it has a long and fascinating history. The sport originated in Polynesia and was adopted by surf school instructors in Hawaii as it allowed them to keep an eye on surfers from a stable vantage point.
Paddleboarding involves standing on a super wide, long board and propelling yourself through the water using a long blade. This great new activity is healthy, invigorating and promotes balance, strength and general fitness.
Paddleboarding is low impact, easier to learn than surfing and attainable for everyone, suitable for individuals, families and couples.
No experience is necessary, you don't have to be a surfer or adrenaline junkie to learn the newest and fastest growing adventure sport around
Paddleboarding is also a great way to escape the crowds as you can cruise along gently while taking in the stunning views .
What's more, paddleboard is a great alternative to surfing. For experienced surfers, paddleboarding can be a way to enjoy the surf on days when there is little surf.
And for non-surfers, it is a sensational way of getting out in the water and enjoying an awesome new experience.
Harlyn Paddleboard Lessons
 At Harlyn Surf School, we offer paddleboard lessons for all the family whether you are a complete beginner or have a little experience. And we also provide absolutely all the equipment you need.
If you are a complete beginner, we guarantee you will be confident on your paddleboard in your very first lesson, either in sheltered Harlyn Bay or on the smooth waters of the Camel Estuary.
And, once you have mastered the basics of paddleboard, we help you develop your skills to the next level, so that you can move on to longer paddles or enjoy your paddleboard in small surf.
All our paddleboard instructors are both excellent surfers and paddlers and have years of experience of teaching clients of all ages and abilities.

Learn to Paddleboard £45 (2 hours)
This is the perfect introduction to learn how to paddleboard. You will learn about weather assessment, beach and estuary hazards, self rescue, posture, balance and equipment. You will become familiar with the board and the paddle techniques. Then you will learn how to paddleboard, first lying on your board and then kneel paddling before then learning how to stand up.
The lesson is jam packed with useful tips and techniques so you quickly gain your confidence.

Paddleboard Improver Lessons / Paddleboard Tours £45 (2 hours)
 There can be few Cornish experiences quite as magical as exploring the North Cornish coast or the Camel estuary on stand up paddleboards. You are as close to nature as you can be.
At Harlyn Surf School, we offer guided stand up paddleboards tours of the Camel Estuary near Padstow as well as tours around the stunning coastline of Padstow, Constantine and Treyarnon. This part of the North Cornish coast is as beautiful as you will find and there is no better way of exploring it than with stand up paddleboards.
This is a completely different kind of experience from surfing or paddle boarding in the surf –Cornwall at its most serene and peaceful.
During this lesson you will learn about improving turning techniques, new paddle skills and paddling out through small surf
To take part in this wonderful adventure, you will need to have completed our Harlyn Surf School ‘Learn to Paddleboard’ introductory lesson (link) or have previous experience of stand up paddleboards.

Stand Up Paddleboard Surf Sessions £60 (1 hour)
 After you are confident with your paddleboard on flat water, you will want to add an exciting new dimension by taking your paddleboard into surf conditions. This is a terrific experience and a real highlight.
It is essential that you have been trained in paddleboard technique and surf etiquette before you paddle into a surf lineup.
You should have experienced both paddleboard lessons and a Beginners Fast Track Surfing course at Harlyn Surf School before taking part in one of these Stand Up Paddleboard Surf Sessions.
In these lessons you will learn important safety skills, how to paddle out through small surf, enhanced turning skills, wave selection, positioning and surf etiquette. This is a great introduction to paddleboard surfing and without proper instruction stand up paddle surfers can be a hazard not only to themselves but to other water users.
